French Strawberry Tart
When strawberries are in season… gotta make strawberry tart!
Did you know strawberries are very rich in vitamin C and a good source of fiber, folate, and antioxidants? They are perfect to make your dessert tarts more nutritious!
The recipe for this French strawberry tart is adapted from The Spruce Eats (click here for the original recipe). The vanilla-flavored custard filling in this tart recipe is so tasty and totally worth the arm workout!
Below are some recipe modifications I made to make this tart less sugar dense and lower in sodium in consideration of your health!
1. Use 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt for the French sweet pastry crust.
2. Use 3 tablespoons of sugar for the pastry cream.
3. When assembling the tart, use 2 tablespoons of strawberry jam to make the strawberry glaze or you can skip the glaze part as well.
Happy Baking! 🙂
